Our Mission

Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC exists to provide safe, practical, educational, and enjoyable fly-fishing experiences exclusively for active-duty U.S. military service members and U.S. military veterans. The goal is to help participants build useful skills, confidence on the water, and a greater appreciation for the fisheries they enjoy.

More Than a Day of Fishing

A guided trip should be more than simply putting fish in the boat. The goal is to create an experience where participants can enjoy their time on the water while learning skills and techniques they can continue using long after the trip is over.

Whether someone is holding a fly rod for the first time or refining skills they already have, instruction can be incorporated throughout the day based on experience, interests, and goals.

Practical, Approachable Instruction

Fly fishing does not need to be complicated or intimidating. Instruction focuses on practical skills such as casting, presentation, fly selection, reading water, fighting fish, and safely handling and releasing the catch.

The objective is not to follow a rigid lesson plan. Instruction is adapted to the participant, the conditions, and the opportunities presented by the water that day.

Safety Comes First

Safety is the foundation of every trip. Weather, water conditions, boating conditions, equipment, foreseeable hazards, and participant readiness are considered when planning and conducting each outing.

Fishing locations, departure times, routes, or other trip plans may be adjusted when conditions warrant it. Catching fish is never more important than making sound decisions and returning safely from the water.

Respect for the Fishery

Rivers, lakes, fisheries, and the surrounding environment are resources worth protecting. Responsible fish handling, appropriate fishing practices, and respect for the waters being fished are part of every Shenandoah Fly Fishing experience.

Helping participants better understand the water and the fishery can encourage the same sense of stewardship long after the guided trip ends.

A Welcoming Experience for Those We Serve

Eligible participants do not need years of experience or specialized knowledge to enjoy a guided fly-fishing trip. Beginners are welcome, questions are encouraged, and the pace of each outing can be adjusted to the anglers on board.

The mission is straightforward: provide active-duty U.S. military service members and U.S. military veterans with a safe and enjoyable day on the water, help them become more confident and capable fly anglers, and share an appreciation for the fisheries that make each trip possible.

A Veteran-Owned Guide Service

Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC is a veteran-owned commercial fly-fishing guide service. Its decision to serve active-duty military members and veterans defines the clients it accepts for guided trips, but it does not change the company's legal or operational identity.
