Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC handles information in connection with the Shenandoah Launch Android application.

Effective date: August 25, 2026

1. About Shenandoah Launch

Shenandoah Launch is developed and operated by Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC. The app provides river conditions, public river-access information, mapping, and float-planning tools for the Shenandoah River.

Shenandoah Launch does not require users to create an account or sign in.

2. Information Shenandoah Launch Does Not Directly Collect

Shenandoah Launch does not directly collect or maintain user profiles, account credentials, payment information, advertising identifiers, or contacts.

Shenandoah Launch does not contain advertising and does not currently use a separate analytics or behavioral-tracking service operated by Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC.

Shenandoah Launch does include an optional feature for submitting river-access photos, described in Section 4 below.

3. Location Information

Shenandoah Launch can request approximate device location (Android's coarse location permission) to show your position on the river-access map and to calculate your distance to river-access points and float put-ins.

Location permission is optional and requested only when you use a feature that needs it. Denying or later revoking the permission does not prevent use of the rest of the app; distance and "my location" features are simply unavailable.

Your device location is used on the device to calculate distances and map position. It is not transmitted to or stored by Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC's servers. When Shenandoah Launch requests a weather forecast, it sends the coordinates of the relevant river gauge station, not your device's location.

Google Maps SDK's own handling of location while the map is in use is described in a later section.

4. River-Access Photo Submissions

Shenandoah Launch includes an optional feature that lets users submit a photo of a public river-access location, along with the approximate time the photo was taken, so other users can see recent conditions at that location.

When a photo is submitted, Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC receives and stores:

  • the submitted photo;
  • the public river-access location the photo is associated with;
  • the approximate time the photo was captured;
  • an optional note provided by the user;
  • the submitting device's IP address; and
  • a Google Play Integrity verdict (described below) confirming the submission came from a genuine, Play-distributed copy of the app.

Submitted photos are reviewed by Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC before being made publicly visible in the app. If a photo is approved, resized and watermarked versions are created for public display, and the original submitted file is deleted. If a photo is not approved, it is never made public and the original submitted file is deleted without any version being published.

This feature is entirely optional. Declining to submit a photo does not limit any other use of the app.

Google Play Integrity

To help confirm that a photo submission comes from a genuine, unmodified copy of Shenandoah Launch installed through Google Play — rather than a modified app attempting to submit fraudulent content — the app requests an attestation token from Google's Play Integrity API when a photo is submitted. This token is sent to Google, and Google returns a verdict indicating whether the app and device meet Google's integrity requirements.

Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC stores this verdict, not the underlying device signals Google uses to produce it. Google's handling of Play Integrity requests is governed by Google's own privacy policy, linked in the Google Maps section below.

5. Google Maps

Shenandoah Launch uses the Google Maps SDK for Android to display river-access locations and map information.

When Google Maps functionality is used, Google may automatically collect certain technical information required to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Google Maps services. This information may include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address;
  • device manufacturer, model, operating system, and form factor;
  • Google Maps SDK version and request metadata;
  • crash information and stack traces;
  • a Google Maps SDK-specific pseudonymous identifier; and
  • map interaction information, such as map panning or zooming, depending on how the mapping features are used.

Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC does not use Google Maps information for advertising or to build personal profiles of Shenandoah Launch users.

Google's collection, use, retention, and protection of information processed through Google Maps services is governed by Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.

6. River Conditions and Application APIs

Shenandoah Launch communicates with web services operated for Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC to retrieve information such as river conditions, gauge information, river-access data, and other application content.

These services are hosted and protected using Cloudflare infrastructure. When the app connects to these services, Cloudflare may process technical network information necessary to deliver and protect the service. Depending on the request, this information may include:

  • IP address;
  • request date and time;
  • requested URL or API endpoint;
  • traffic-routing information;
  • device or system configuration information; and
  • security and diagnostic information related to the request.

These application requests are used to provide app functionality, maintain service reliability, diagnose technical problems, and protect the service from abuse or malicious activity.

Cloudflare processes information according to its own privacy and data-handling practices.

8. Reporting a Problem

Shenandoah Launch includes a voluntary Report a Problem feature. The app does not automatically transmit a problem report.

Selecting Report a Problem opens an email application on the user's device and prepares an email addressed to Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC. The user can review, change, or cancel the email before sending it.

The prepared report may include technical information useful for troubleshooting, such as:

  • Shenandoah Launch application version;
  • the application screen associated with the report;
  • device manufacturer and model;
  • Android version and API level; and
  • any description or other information the user chooses to provide.

If the user sends the email, Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC will also receive the email address and other information normally included by the user's chosen email provider.

The user's email provider processes the message according to that provider's own privacy policy.

9. External Applications and Links

Shenandoah Launch may open external websites, mapping applications, navigation applications, email applications, or other services at the user's request.

Once a user leaves Shenandoah Launch or chooses to use another application or service, information handled by that service is governed by the privacy practices of the third-party provider.

10. How Information Is Used

Information processed in connection with Shenandoah Launch is used only as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide requested application functionality;
  • display maps and river-access information;
  • retrieve current river and application data;
  • review and, if approved, publicly display river-access photos voluntarily submitted by users;
  • maintain the reliability and security of application services;
  • diagnose software or service problems; and
  • respond to support requests voluntarily submitted by users.

Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC does not sell Shenandoah Launch user information.

11. Data Security

Shenandoah Launch is configured to use encrypted HTTPS connections for its web and API communications. The application does not permit ordinary cleartext HTTP traffic.

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information handled by Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC. However, no Internet-connected system or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

12. Data Retention and Deletion

Shenandoah Launch does not maintain user accounts or persistent user profiles and therefore does not maintain an account database that requires an account-deletion process.

Technical information processed by Google, Cloudflare, email providers, or other third-party services may be retained according to those providers' respective policies and operational requirements.

Problem reports and other support communications received directly by Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate the reported issue, provide support, maintain appropriate business records, or satisfy legal obligations.

A user may request deletion of personal information contained in a support communication by contacting Shenandoah Fly Fishing, LLC at the email address listed below. Information may be retained where required by law or where reasonably necessary for legitimate legal or security purposes.

13. Children's Privacy

Shenandoah Launch is a general outdoor-recreation and river-planning application and is not specifically directed to children.

The app does not knowingly create profiles of children or knowingly collect personal information from children through account registration because the app does not provide user accounts or registration.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Shenandoah Launch features, service providers, data practices, or applicable requirements change. The effective date shown at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
